● IT support

IT support for local businesses, by someone you can ring.

Remote and on-site help for the computers, email, networks and security behind your business. Delivered through North Computers in Howden, for businesses in Howden, Goole, Snaith and Selby.

Scope

What it solves, and what you get.

Problems it solves
  • Something breaks and nobody knows who to call

A slow computer, a printer that stops, email that will not send. You need one person who knows your setup and picks up the phone.

  • Email and Microsoft 365 are a worry

Mailboxes, passwords, shared inboxes and security settings are easy to get wrong and painful when they fail.

  • Nobody is looking after backups, updates and security

Without someone checking, updates get missed and backups quietly stop working until the day you need them.

  • You are buying equipment without independent advice

Choosing computers, networks and software is easier when the person advising you is not selling you the most expensive option.

What is included
  • Remote supportFixing problems over a secure connection, usually the quickest way to get you working again.
  • On-site visitsVisits to your premises in Howden, Goole, Snaith, Selby and nearby, for equipment, cabling, Wi-Fi and anything that needs hands on.
  • Email and Microsoft 365Setup, mailboxes, migrations and day-to-day administration, including Microsoft 365 and hosted business email.
  • Networks and Wi-FiTroubleshooting and setting up office networks, routers, switches, printers and shared storage.
  • Backups and updatesChecking that backups run and can be restored, and that systems stay up to date.
  • Security basicsAntivirus, multi-factor sign-in, password advice and clear steps for suspicious emails and scams.
  • Repairs and upgradesHardware repairs, SSD upgrades and replacements, with honest advice on whether to repair or replace.
  • Data recoveryHelp when files are lost or a drive fails. Recovery cannot be guaranteed, and I will tell you the odds first.
Process

How it works, from the first call.

A typical order of work. Many problems are solved on the first call.

  1. 01

    First call

Tell me what is wrong or what you want improved. Many problems can be sorted over the phone or remotely.

  2. 02

    Quote

If it needs more than a quick fix, you receive a written price before any work starts.

  3. 03

    Fix

Work is done remotely or on site, at a time that suits you, with what I did explained in plain English.

  4. 04

    Follow-up

I check that it is working and note what is set up, so the next problem is quicker to solve.
